Mrs. Melott's Pre-Algebra

Welcome to Pre-Algebra!  My name is Mrs. Melott and I will be your math teacher.  What an exciting year this will be!  I am looking forward to working with all of you, helping you learn, as well as learning from you.
This will be my eighth year teaching 7th grade math at Learwood Middle School.  I really enjoy teaching this age group because of the enthusiasm and the desire to learn that I see in my students.

Before becoming a teacher I was, just like you, a student.  I graduated from McKinley Senior High School (go Bulldogs!) located in Canton, Ohio and was accepted to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  After four and a half years of school, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Adolescent Mathematics Education (this means I can teach math in grades 7-12).  I decided to pursue my Master's degree in Educational Administration at the University of Akron and was fortunate  to work as a graduate assistant helping out with research.  After landing my dream job as a 7th grade math teacher at Learwood Middle School, my husband Drew and I moved to the Avon Lake area.  We have a two and a half year old daughter Ava who is a very busy girl!                            

Even though it was a long time ago, I can still remember my 7th grade year--lots of new friends, new classes, new teachers.  Enjoy this year because it will fly by very quickly.  I am here to help you learn!  I am very excited to have you in my class.
